Current Projects
Building a new library, Computer Room and Administrative Offices
The current library has served the college well but needs to be expanded and upgrade to meet the needs of the accreditation council and also efficiently serve the college and its students. There is no doubt that Fairview will increase its enrollment of students in the coming years and therefore the facilities must be upgraded to accommodate that increase. There is also the need for major upgrading of the computer room for the college as the use of technology in aiding learning has increased drastically over the past ten years. The new building project is both an addition to and an expansion of the current building that houses the library and computer room.
When completed the new wing will house, on the lower floor, the administrative offices, restrooms for males and females and, on the upper floor, the library and computer rooms. The immediate plan is to at least complete the lower floor and temporarily relocate the present library there until the upper floor is finished.
We are also
happy to report that we have a couple of mission teams that will come to our
campus in
March 2011 to assist us in completing our administration building and
library. Our appreciation goes to
Dr. Rathbun who has made the link with one of
these teams to come and help us. Plans are in an
advance state for their coming.
The other group is a returning team that has been with us twice before
and they
are committed to a partnership with the college in realizing the development of
the school. Join
us in prayers as we ask the Lord to meet these goals.
Beginning of the Project
![]() Re-roofing of Girls Dorm
God has provided a donor to purchase the material to re-roof the female dorm and get rid of the bats in the roof once and for all. We also have a team of men who will be coming from the USA to help us for two weeks from January 10, 2011. The challenge we face is that this project must be finished by the third week of February and we do not have the funds to pay additional workers from Jamaica. We also need to start the project by the first week of January in order to meet the deadline for completion. We are therefore, asking for some volunteers such as masons, carpenters, and mixers to help us during the months of January and February 2011. If you are able to help, you can call Rev. Audley Black (456-8462) or the school (997-5545) and register your willingness to volunteer your service to this end. You might not be able to come but you can pay for some days of work and make it possible for us to hire some workmen. The average daily salaries range from JA$1500 to JA$4500. It is our hope that campers, churches, alumni and individuals will partner with us in this needed venture. You can also deposit cash to the college's account at any branch of Bank of Nova Scotia. The account is at the Westgate branch in Montego Bay and the name is Fairview Baptist Bible College and the account number is 65919. When you have deposited to the account we would appreciate if you would email us and tell us the amount and the area you are donating the funds towards. ![]()
